The Dutchess

Life Story
Biography
Life and Career
The Black Eyed Peas

The Dutchess is the debut solo album by The Black Eyed Peas member Fergie. The title is a misspelling of the title of the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, with whom she shares a surname and popular nickname. Fellow BEP bandmate will.i.am is helping in the producing and recording of the album.

Although rumors have come about due to her engaging in a solo career and will.i.am's collaborations with the likes of Nelly Furtado, Fergie has stated in interviews that although she is going to produce and put out a solo project she will still be an active member of The Black Eyed Peas and that the group is undoubtedly still together and touring.

will.i.am executive produced the entire album. All the Peas members make guest appearances, along with Ludacris, B-Real from Cypress Hill and Rita Marley, Bob Marley’s widow.

Fergie said in her latest interview : "Every song has its own character," she elaborated. "They use different pieces of my voice and that’s what I want to express, ‘cause it’s fun. It makes the album less boring for me and hopefully for others as well."

The first single was the 2006 smash summer hit "London Bridge". The song reached number one the Billboard Hot 100 and top ten elsewhere.

The second single from The Dutchess is confirmed to be "Fergalicious", the original working title for the album.

  • The Song "Here I Come" (featuring Will.I.Am) was released online September 4, 2006.
  • "Here I Come" (featuring Will.I.Am) was featured on a commercial for The CW.
  • The Dutchess was featured on The Leak on MTV.com and First Spin on MuchMusic.com for one week starting 09.12.06

The album debuted at number 3 in the United States with a first week sales of over 142,000.

Trivia

  • If you wait approximately a minute after the last (13th) track entitled Finally, there is a bonus track called "Maybe We Can Take A Ride".
  • According to Fergie, The Dutchess, the album's title is spelled with an extra "T" to add her own trademark to it to so it can seperate her from the "The Duchess Of York"
