Hip-hop has always taken inspiration from Dancehall,thanks to New York's sizeable Jamaican population, and collaborations between the two communities have been increasing. But it took Dancehall newcomer Sean Paul to finally close the gap.

Reggae and Dancehall superstar Sean Paul has once again claimed the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with 'Temperature,' which is the Top Airplay Gainer for the fourth time in five weeks as it rockets to #1 after 11 weeks on the charts. This marks the third time Sean Paul has held down the #1 single - he previously rose to the peak of the charts with 'Get Busy' and 'Baby Boy' featuring Beyonce from his previous album Dutty Rock. Dancehall DJ Sean Paul began scoring hit singles in Jamaica starting in 1996, and has since attracted American attention with his appearance on the soundtrack of Hype Williams' Belly (with Mr. Vegas and DMX) and his 1999 hit "Hot Gal Today."
