equipped with a firehouse, a mill and a population eager
for the glitter of Hollywood - Price thinks he has it
made. However, he soon finds out that the mill, a crucial
piece in the film, was destroyed several years ago in a

'Til There Was You (1997)

Life"; that show's creator, Winnie Holzman, penned.

conducts his own investigation--and uncovers a scandal in
which homeless people are being used as human guinea pigs
in the name of science. The moral Luthan wants to put a
stop to this, but doing so may cost him his career--and
his life.
Adapted from a book by Michael Palmer, the film marches to
its conclusion with as much suspense as director Michael
Apted's previous thrillers (AGATHA, GORKY PARK, and
THUNDERHEART). Grant plays the charming, put-upon
Englishman to perfection, while Gene Hackman and Sarah
Jessica Parker provide strong supporting roles. An
intelligent examination of the contemporary dilemmas in
medical ethics, the film concludes with an ending that
will challenge viewers' moral beliefs.

it comes to romance, there really is no place like home?
Mars Attacks! (1996)
Comedy Director Tim Burton unleashes MARS ATTACKS!, a
vicious, affectionate, brightly-colored homage to 1950s
alien invasion movies. When a shiny silver flying saucer
lands in the Nevada desert, a group of skull-faced
Martians exit the gleaming craft. Although they claim to
be peaceful, they promptly "vaporize" a
gathering of unfortunate Earthlings, kicking off a bizarre
high-tech war with wild special effects. This studiously
campy sci-fi spoof, based on a series of Topps bubble-gum
cards, gleefully parodies not only schlock B-horror
movies, but also overblown blockbusters such as
INDEPENDENCE DAY. This subversive film is helped along by
an all-star cast including Jack Nicholson in dual roles as
both a clueless U.S. President (with First Lady Glenn
Close) and a Las Vegas sleazebag. The film follows the
wacky WAR OF THE WORLDS-like proceedings from the points
of view of numerous colorful characters, from the inane
U.S. Press Secretary (Martin Short) to a trailer-park
family (Lukas Haas and Sylvia Sidney), to singer Tom Jones
(as himself).

situation comes Antonio's mother, who's demanding to meet

romantic comedy in the style of Woody Allen.

of dance choreography and realistic and touching
performances. When teenager Ren (Kevin Bacon) and his
family move from big-city Chicago to a small midwestern
town, he's in for a real case of culture shock. Though he
tries hard to fit in, the streetwise Ren can't quite
believe he's living in a place where rock music and
dancing are illegal. There is one small pleasure, however:
Ariel (Lori Singer), a troubled but lovely blonde--who
also has a jealous boyfriend. In fact, it is Ariel's dad
(John Lithgow), a Bible-thumping minister, who is
responsible for keeping the town dance-free. Ren and his
classmates want to do away with this ordinance, especially
since the senior prom is around the corner, but only Ren
has the courage to initiate a battle. Ren's pent-up
frustrations cause a confrontation with Rev. Shaw Moore
and the local town council as he takes on the small-town
establishment struggling to abolish the outmoded ban and
revitalize the spirit of the repressed townspeople. Herb
Ross's fast-paced drama is filled with such hit songs as
