Ryan Rodney Reynolds (born October 23, 1976 in Vancouver, British Columbia), is a Canadian actor.
His father James was a grocery wholesaler and his mother Tammy Reynolds a salesperson. He is the youngest of four brothers; two of them are currently employed as police officers.
Ryan is well known for his starring role in the movie Van Wilder by National Lampoon, though he also starred for four years in the American TV series Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place playing medical student Michael “Berg” Bergen.
Ryan had a cameo in 2004′s Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle playing a nurse and has appeared in The In-Laws, with Michael Douglas and Albert Brooks, and the Canadian production Foolproof (2003). In 2004, he co-starred in the action/horror film Blade: Trinity as Hannibal King. In 2005 he starred in the film Waiting… playing a waiter named Monty.
Although he has performed primarily in comedies, Reynolds played the dark character George Lutz in the horror movie remake of The Amityville Horror.
David Goyer (Batman Begins screenwriter) has expressed interest in a Deadpool motion picture. At recent interviews, actor Ryan Reynolds has told of monthly meetings with Avi Arad over the possibility of a Deadpool motion picture, with him as the lead role of Wade Wilson.
Due to increased fan backing of the Deadpool project, the idea is getting closer and closer to being made, with Avi Arad’s son being a “hardcore Deadpool fan” helping the cause.
Since 2002, he has been romantically linked to fellow Canadian, singer Alanis Morissette, to whom he has reportedly become engaged. Reynolds has stated that he was attracted to Alanis’s laid back attitude; an example he gave was that she did not need to take 2 hours to get ready to go grab a coffee, like other women he had dated in the past.
Alanis’s song “Everything” is purportedly about Reynolds. The couple live in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and own a penthouse suite in Los Angeles, California, USA.
In 2006, Reynolds and Morissette reportedly split up, On June 7, 2006, People Magazine reported that Morissette split from fianceé Ryan Reynolds, however neither party has confirmed this report, and the legitimacy of their break up is still in question. On July 27, 2006, Morissette and Reynolds were spotted holding hands in Los Angeles, sinking rumors about their supposed break-up.
Reynolds portrayed Deadpool in the X-Men spinoff X-Men Origins: Wolverine and will portray him again in a recently announced spin-off called Deadpool. Reynolds will portray superhero Hal Jordan/Green Lantern in Warner Bros.’ upcoming film Green Lantern to be released June 17, 2011 in 3D, making him one of the few actors to headline movies based on both Marvel and DC characters. Reynolds stars also in the Spanish horror film and Sundance favourite Buried which was directed by Rodrigo Cortes.
Reynolds was named one of People Magazine’s Sexiest Men Alive in 2008 and 2009. Ryan Reynolds has been named the new face of Hugo Boss fragrances, February 2010. He will portray Nick Cruz in the Universal Pictures film adaption of the Dark Horse Comics Rest in Peace Department, which is planned for 2011.
