Saw VI is the sixth installment in the Saw film series. The film, which began shooting on March 30, 2009, will be released in theaters on October 23, 2009. Saw VI is directed by Kevin Greutert, who has been the editor on all the past Saw films to date. Zombieland is an American zombie comedy horror film, written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick and directed by Ruben Fleischer. The film stars Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin as survivors of a zombie apocalypse. Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant is the 2009 film adaptation of the first three books of the book series The Saga of Darren Shan by author Darren Shan.

Couples Retreat is a 2009 comedy film directed by former child star Peter Billingsley and written by Jon Favreau, Vince Vaughn and Dana Fox. Vaughn and Favreau star with Faizon Love, Jason Bateman, Kristin Davis, Kristen Bell, Malin Akerman and Jean Reno.

Where the Wild Things Are is an 2009 fantasy film directed by Spike Jonze. It is a live-action adaptation of Maurice Sendak's 1963 children's book of the same name. The film combines live action, suitmation, animatronics, and CGI. Sherlock Holmes is an 2009 film adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle's fictional character of the same name. Guy Ritchie will direct the film, while Joel Silver, Lionel Wigram, Susan Downey and Dan Lin will produce the film. Michael Robert Johnson, Anthony Peckham and Simon Kinberg will write the screenplay based on Lionel Wigram's story and Doyle's characters. Robert Downey Jr. will portray Holmes and Jude Law will portray John Watson. Planet 51 is an animated film directed by Jorge Blanco and written by Joe Stillman. Produced by Madrid-based Ilion Animation Studios and HandMade Films for $60 million, it was acquired for US distribution by New Line Cinema in November 2007.

But James uncovers mysterious genetic conversion equipment and also finds the solar mirror is in reality a laser cannon that can destroy almost anything in its path on Earth. James now must rescue Jinx (who is conducting her own, identical, investigation of Graves) and learn the truth about Graves' laser cannon, leading to a violent showdown as the weapon is fired onto Earth and begins slicing open a gigantic line of destruction.
