She began her comedic career as a member of The Groundlings. Her first major television role was Ursula Buffay, the eccentrically silly waitress on Mad About You. This led to her starring role on Friends as Ursula’s sister, Phoebe Buffay, a role for which she won an Emmy Award in 1998 for Best Actress In A Comedy Series, she has enough capacity to make herself a star vehicle, probably with her own show.

Her film credits include Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion (1997), The Opposite of Sex (1998), Analyze This (1999), Lucky Numbers (2000), Dr. Dolittle 2 (2001), Analyze That (2002), Wonderland (2003), Happy Endings (2005), P.S.
