Control
Factor (2003)
Lance Bishop (Adam Baldwin, not from the
Baldwin clan) is your run-of -the-mill insurance salesman whose life is
happy and relatively unremarkable until one fateful day which leads him
to question his sanity. First a strange degenerate inexplicably attacks him in the street. Then he hears voices in his head. Voices that tell
him that it might be a good idea to murder his beloved wife (Elizabeth
Berkley, SHOWGIRLS). Turns out, the voices are part of a top-secret
government plot to control the minds of its citizens and achieve world
domination. Fortunately, Bishop discovers other, somewhat off-kilter
folks, who suspect their minds have been tampered with. This moody,
paranoid picture follows in the tradition of alien-abduction movies such
as THE X-FILES and TAKEN. The only difference is that here, the sinister
characters representing the government bear an uncanny resemblance to
aliens.

Roger's, Nick reveals that he has come to ask for help--in hopes of
ditching his virginal status, Nick begs Roger for a lesson in the art of
seduction. Embittered Roger then takes on the role of a nocturnal drill
sergeant in an imaginary war between the sexes, starting Nick's training

The Shipment

Sure we've all seen movies starring a
crazy guy who has stolen money from the mob, but have you ever seen a

premise in this crazy comedy. A New York mobster arrives in hicksville
looking for his stolen viagra, but is constantly outwitted by a motley
crew of farmhands, and a town sherrif played by Matthew Modine. There's
a hell of a comedic twist in the tale in the form of the mobster's wife,
Candy; Turns out she's the sheriff's ex-boyfriend! And that's just one
of the many problems the mob must face in this lighthearted screwball
comedy.

Any Given
Sunday (1999)
Drama
2 hrs. 45 min. Although professional football provides the
action-packed backdrop of Any Given Sunday, the film takes a
simultaneously epic and intimate look at the men and women who comprise
the milieu of the film, from the modern-day gladiators of the gridiron,
their coaches and often beleaguered families, to the moneyed team owners
and business concerns who attempt to control the game as big business,
to the hungry sports media, and hangers-on trying to get a taste of the
glamour.

Tail Lights
Fade (1999)
Comedy
A quartet of young Canadian classic-auto buffs embark on a
cross-country trip, ostensibly to help studious Angie (Allen) clear out
the secret marijuana stash grown by her jailed dealer brother. Along the
way, however, Angie and narrator/boyfriend
Cole (Meyer) and their competitors Bruce (Busey) and Wendy (Richards)
fight, scheme, switch cars and trade insults -- characters in this movie
never seem more on-target as when they're putting each other down -- and
by the end of this
bad-relationship road movie one of them decides that the only smart
thing to do is clear out. Even if the narrative runs out of gas, the
attractive young cast make a nice fuel additive. For another regional
comedy of car collectors forever switching seats during a long drive,
look for the Ohio-made MY NEW ADVISOR.

Showgirls
(1995)
Drama
High-strung, statuesque Nomi Mallone (Elizabeth Berkely) is
determined to be a dancer in Las Vegas, whatever it takes--but she
starts out as a stripper. Through her seamstress roommate (Gina Ravera),
Nomi catches the attention of the voracious bisexual Cristal (Gina
Gershon), star of an extravagant pagan sex show called
"Goddess" which plays nightly at the swanky Stardust Casino.
Through Cristal's influence, Nomi gets a chance to audition for
"Goddess" and is soon involved in all sorts of sordid
backstage goings-on, including bitchy dueling with Cristal over Stardust
head honcho Zack (Kyle McLachlan). Maligned by many critics upon its
original release, SHOWGIRLS has since become a true camp classic,
revived for midnight showings and beloved for its decadence, high nudity
yield, and outrageously catty dialogue (courtesy of screenwriter Joe
Eszterhas). Its director is Paul Verhoeven (ROBOCOP, TOTAL RECALL), so
one can safely assume SHOWGIRLS' over-the-top hostility and sexuality is
meant to be a satire of American culture. One of the first big-budget
Hollywood movies to be released with an NC-17 rating, its lack of box
office success meant few others would have the guts to follow.
