Everybody Hates Chris (2005)
[TV-Series 2005-????]
Motivated by his childhood
experiences, Emmy Award-winner/actor/comedian Chris Rock narrates
this very hilarious & touching story of a teenager growing up
as the oldest of three children in Brooklyn, NY in 1982. 1982 is
the year that Chris (Tyler James Williams) turns 13. Filled with
dreams of being a cool teenager, Chris moves with his family from
the projects to the "Bed-Stuy: Do or Die" neighborhood.
As the family's emergency adult, he's accountable for taking care
of his younger brother Drew (who's taller and more confident than
Chris) (Tequan Richmond) and sister Tonya (who gets all the
parents' attention) (Imani Hakim) while his parents are working.
Chris' rough cost-conscious father Julius (Terry Crews) works
numerous jobs to properly support his family. Who runs the
household in a very tight budget is very strict and sassy mom
Rochelle (Tichina Arnold) who works part-time in a small
real-estate office. With his mom strong-minded to see him in a
good school, while Drew and Tonya go to the same school in their
old neighborhood, Chris reluctantly faces multiple bus transfers
every day to attend Corleone Junior High in the fiercely Italian
neighborhood, South Shore. Although being an immediate target for
bullies, Chris' innate charm and sharp wit will enable him to make
new friends at school like Greg (Vincent Martella), another smart,
nice kid...who can't fight, by the way. As Chris Rock pointedly
looks back, his younger self is set to find what his family
already knows: Chris' sharp, scrappy character is going to take
him places. But first, he's going to have to think, talk or run
his way through one growing experience after another at both home
and school, and on any number of buses along the way.

Madagascar
(2005)
Comedy,
Kids/Family and Animation
1 hr. 20 min.
This movie focuses on four residents and
"stars" of the Central Park Zoo in New
York City who are also best friends: a lion
(Stiller), a zebra (Rock), a giraffe (Schwimmer)
and a pregnant hippo (Smith). When one of them
goes missing, the other three break out of the zoo
looking for him, and eventually all four are
captured and put in boxes to ship them back to the
continent their species are originally from:
Africa. An accident at sea, however, strands them
on the shore of Madagascar. Having had humans take
care of them their entire life, the four know
nothing of surviving in the wild, or that one of
them, the lion, is genetically predisposed to eat
his three best friends. Exploring their
surroundings, the four friends soon meet the
Malagasy locals (a type of lemur given to having
loud "rave-like" dance parties) and
their carnivorous enemies, the fousas. As the two
sides try to use these four new, strange (and
large) friends to their benefit, our heroes are
also confronted with the reality of their
predestined roles in nature.

Nurse Betty
(2000)
Comedy
1 hr. 52 min.
The winner of the Best Screenplay award at the
2000 Cannes Film Festival, this film is a darkly
comic story about one woman's incredible
determination to make her dreams come true against
numerous odds. Fantasy collides with reality as
Betty Sizemore, a small-town waitress and soap
opera fan, inspires herself and everyone she meets
to find at least a piece of their real selves
throughout this romantic, dangerously funny road
picture. The popular TV daytime drama "A
Reason to Love" has an especially devoted
viewer in Betty. One night, watching a videotape
of that day's episode, she becomes an accidental
witness to a deal going fatally awry for her
no-good car salesman husband. Betty, traumatized,
enters into a fugue state that allows - even
encourages - her to keep functioning, in a kind of
alternate reality. Betty Sizemore becomes
"Nurse Betty," who is set on returning
to the love of her life, the show's Dr. David
Ravell. Betty promptly sets off for Los Angles in
a! "borrowed" 1997 Buick LeSabre - which
is precisely what her late husband's killers are
looking for. As Betty makes contact with Dr.
Ravell and the hit men slowly but surely track her
down, life begins to imitate art and vice versa.

CB4 (1993)

newly incarcerated Murphy's persona and christens
his rap group CB4, after Murphy's cell block
address. Vowing to glorify violence and disparage
women, CB4 are quickly signed to a lucrative
record contract. Soon, the band is selling out
