I believe you have a responsibility to comport yourself in a manner that
gives an example to others. As a young man, I prayed for success. Now I
pray just to be worthy of it.
I have so much satisfaction in
my life. I have a beautiful wife and the great stimulation of an
interesting career. I'm the most happy fellow that I know.
I know. I cringed too. it's like, "Oh,
stop, stop!" He's drenched with desire to have acceptance and be loved, to have friends.
I’m certainly gratified that
my name helps a film like this get made, and it’s a film that Phillip
has wanted to make for years, and selfishly I wanted to have the
opportunity to travel to Vietnam and Sydney, and have the chance to work
there.
They had a
hard time miking me in my loin cloth, I mean, where were they gonna tape

Well, as George is the king of the jungle, he has the best of intentions to reign supreme. And as he's essentially a cartoon character, he's prone to repetitive behavior--namely, a good running joke. I maintain that he's navigationally challenged. He's not the most elaborate fellow we're going to meet in moviedom.
There was a lot to react to
and also a lot to play with, which turned out in the final edit. When I
saw that scene put in via the computer, it was extraordinary. It allows
one to really use one’s imagination, a powerful actor’s tool in a
film like this. The continued technology has evolved since the first

I embrace it. I mean CGI and new technology for films has come so far in such a short amount of time that it’s almost doubled itself every two or three years – about every increment that I made a movie. The funny thing is that as sophisticated as the technology gets, the less sophisticated you have to become as an actor. Sure. As you'll remember in The Odyssey, our hero was thrown into a chaotic world from which he had to extricate himself, and he was unable to do so until he deposed the leader. He ultimately met the woman who became one of his greatest foes and had to travel deep into the netherworld to retrieve her. Upon his return to his own world, he realized that his greatest foe, indeed, was humanity rather than the monsters that inhabited the other world. And he was rewarded with a wedding. In broad strokes, that's the story of George of the Jungle.
I have a real fondness for Tarzan lore. Certainly, the myth of Edgar Rice Burroughs' White Ape. Burroughs was never really that pleased with the way popular culture and society treated his character. He tried to make a few movies of his own as a result, but they weren't very good.
It’s a pleasure. They have been absolute staples for the last 60 years and they will be for the next [hundred] years. Because they are digital, they’ll be around for a long, long time to come. They are going to outlive the careers of their contemporaries. To be included alongside them – literally – on a screen is some kind of funny badge of honor.
