I like the movies I’ve been in for fun. It’s like, it’s like escapism. You go and you get to not think about your paper not being due, or your boss yelling at you. So, I don’t have a problem with the movies I’ve done, just as, you know an artist, and after experiencing New York and being there during September 11th and all that. I’m glad! I moved to New York and took a break. I wasn’t getting the opportunities I wanted in Hollywood and I was craving serious roles. I wanted to be taken seriously.
I definitely had a couple of beer guzzlers who came up to say hello in bars. What I really meant was that I like confident guys with a sense of humor.
It’s
a difficult thing for me as an actor to have a scene like she starts off
in this very dramatic scene and you know what she’s going through, but
you have to remember the tone of this movie. It’s very tongue in
cheek, so you have this dramatic scene, but you don’t want to go too
far and you just kind of, I just tried my best and hoped that the
director kept it in the same vein as in the movie. I mean, I really
that’s a really difficult thing for me.
I personally feel going in for the gore, you’re going in for these set-ups. It is tongue and cheek. You’re going in for the fun of it, you can’t go too deep.
When
it comes down to it, at the end of the day, I need more out of my life
and I need to push myself harder. And if at the end of the day I don't
have it, then I don't have it, but at least I'm going to put myself out
there. If I fail, I'm going to fail terrifically.
Talking to the fans of the first one and finding what they enjoyed about seeing it and bringing it back, and working all those things into the sequel and just making it sharper and tighter. I hope that’s what we did. I was totally flattered that they asked me to come back and this movie is for the fans of the first one.
It was a silly mess. I was running back and forth from the set to makeup as they were trying to put this shaving cream bikini on me. It got all over the place. And the roles kept coming.
It’s terrifying. Are you kidding me, of course it is. I’m absolutely petrified, I mean, I moved myself to New York City and I could be throwing away all these things I’ve been given. I’ve been given such wonderful opportunities in Hollywood, but when it comes down to at the end of the day I need more out of my life and I need to push myself harder and if at the end of the day I don’t have it, then I don’t have it. But at least I’m going to know and I’m going to put myself out there in this world and if I fail, I’m going to fail terrifically. I’m going down good.
There were no plans on making it and we made it because the first one was such a success, so I think that’s kind of fun.
A couple of years ago I did the ‘Vagina Monologues’ in New York City and it was just the most extraordinary experience of my life. Just being able to have these monologues from real women and these experiences that they went through and being on a stage and having this medium with people that would come up to me afterwards and talk about things that had happened in their life and really open up and
it had such a powerful impact on people, it was just honestly the most amazing time of my life and I just
decided I had to do the sequel right after that, and I just decided that it was time to take control of life and of my career, and I finished this movie, I literally went from Vancouver to New York in a plane with my dog and checked into a hotel. Got an apartment and sent for my things. It was just time for me to take my career in a different direction so.
We tried for a year to get this movie made. I play an American actress who becomes immersed in the Bollywood film world. It’s a fun, romantic comedy but it’s also sexy.
