Biography

Alison Gertrude Larter was born on February 28, 1976 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. She started modeling at the young age of 13. It was while working as a model in Italy when she met Amy Smart. Later, the two girls became roommates in Los Angeles.

In November, 1996, Ali was on the cover of Esquire Magazine as Allegra Coleman, Hollywood's newest Dream Girl. The editors of the magazine wanted to illustrate the hyperbole of Hollywood hype, and approached Ali to play the fictitious actress.

The hoax landed her an agent and soon Ali started guest starring on shows like "Chicago Hope" and "Just Shoot Me". After that, she appeared twice on season two of "Dawson's Creek", as Pacey's object of affection, Kristy Livingstone.

In the fall of 1998, Larter was featured in two episodes of "Dawson's Creek" (The WB), playing a senior class member who catches the eye of notorious older woman fan Pacey (Joshua Jackson).

Meanwhile, Amy Smart had already appeared in several movies. She was the one who suggested that Ali should audition for Varsity Blues. The film, which starred Hollywood's It-boy James van der Beek, became a surprise box office hit and launched the careers of people like Ali, Amy and Paul Walker. And from that moment on, Ali would be referred to as the whipped cream-bikini-girl.

She followed it up with the teen romcom Drive Me Crazy, in which she co-starred as Adrian Grenier's sexy ex. After that she joined the cast of the House on Haunted Hill, in which she starred opposite Geoffrey Rush and Famke Janssen.

But it was her role in thriller Final Destination which earned her critical praise. She won the Young Hollywood Award for Best Breakthrough Performance Female.

In 1999, Larter began her film career with appearances in Varsity Blues and House on Haunted Hill. During the next few years, she appeared in a number of movies aimed at a teenage audience, including the box office successes Legally Blonde and Final Destination. In 2001, Larter performed in the stage play the Vagina Monologues in New York City.

In January 1999, the actress starred opposite Dawson himself in the high school football drama "Varsity Blues", playing Darcy, the head cheerleader outfitted in a whipped cream bikini who tried to entice new star quarterback Mox (James Van Der Beek). Her turn was certainly memorable, and Larter managed to bring depth to her character as well, evincing her ambition and drive, however misplaced.

Later that year she played a student activist who dumps her less motivated boyfriend (Adrien Grenier) on the eve of a school dance, driving him in to the plans and arms of Nicole (Melissa Joan Hart), where the two plot to get back their lost loves in "Drive Me Crazy". Larter next took on a more adult role in that year's horror remake "The House on Haunted Hill", playing an invited guest to the sinister structure who is harboring a dangerous secret.

Next up were supporting roles in the surprise hit Legally Blonde, starring Reese Witherspoon, and in Kevin Smith's Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. She also starred in the western American Outlaws with Colin Farrell and buddy Scott Caan.

Ali recently starred in Final Destination 2. She was the only returning cast member after Devon Sawa decided not to come back.

In 2002, Larter was ranked #40 in Stuff magazine's "102 Sexiest Women in the World".

But now it's time for something new. She enjoyed her time on the New York stage when she performed in The Vagina Monologues in 2001. She would like to do more theatre, while also doing independent work. She can next be seen in Marigold: An Adventure in India.

Larter is a close friend of actress Amy Smart, with whom she co-starred in the film Varsity Blues. She has previously lived in Miami, Florida and currently lives in New York City, having moved there in the spring of 2002.
